School Nurse - RN & LPN
- School Nurse
We are hiring qualified Nurses for the many school districts we've partnered with throughout Western Mass. Previous School Nurse experience preferred. Qualified candidates should be available on a per-diem basis for shifts Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours a day.
Position Qualifications
Provides direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process and established school health protocols.
Serves as health advocate for students, their families and staff.
Notifies parents of accident or illness and secures medical care for students in emergency cases (if parents or emergency contact cannot be reached).
Coordinates management system to administer medications and treatments to students at school according to district policy.
Administers medications and treatments according to district policy and procedures.
Establishes and implements effective procedures for completing mandatory screening programs and referrals as indicated.
Collaborates with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Individual Health Plans.
Communicates regularly with campus principal, Director of health services, school counselor, teachers, parents, food services and other staff.
Reviews immunization records- notifies parents of needed immunizations and follow up with delinquencies.
Compiles, maintains and files all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required, including clinic records and accurate, updated health records on all students.
Performs other functions that may be assigned by the campus principal and/or supervisor.
Certification / Requirements
6 months - 1 year working with pediatric patients or as school nurse
Nursing degree from an accredited institution
Current CPR/BLS certification, Physical, TB test
Current license in MA
